Installation Guide

Follow these steps to get Voilà running on Brave.

Brave
1

Click "Add to Chrome" — it works in Brave

This is the normal install method and works for most Brave users.

Open Chrome Web Store

Don't worry about the button text. Even though it says "Add to Chrome," clicking it installs the extension directly into Brave. As long as the button is blue and clickable, it will work.

Seeing a "Switch to Chrome" warning?

Why does this happen?

The Chrome Web Store reads your browser's User-Agent to verify it's a compatible Chromium browser. When Brave Shields are set to "Strict," fingerprinting protection spoofs this information and hides your Chromium version from Google — causing the Web Store to show the warning.

Lower Brave Shields for the Web Store

aGo to the Voilà Chrome Web Store page.
bClick the Brave Lion icon on the right side of your URL bar.
cEither toggle Shields OFF for the Web Store, or click Advanced Controls and change Block Fingerprinting from "Strict" to "Standard".
dRefresh the page. The "Switch to Chrome" warning should disappear and you can install normally.

Still not working? Update Brave

Google enforces modern extension standards and blocks older Chromium versions. If your Brave browser isn't up to date, the Web Store may reject the install.

aOpen a new tab and go to brave://settings/help
bLet Brave check for updates and relaunch if prompted.
cReturn to the Chrome Web Store and try installing again.
