Simple to start

Practising in under two minutes

No new app, no download, no account to create first. Open WhatsApp, send one message, and your assistant sets you up in the chat.

1

Open in WhatsApp

Tap the button above or scan the QR code. That first message is all it takes to start, and it proves the number is yours.

2

Tell us about you

Your first name, the language you speak, the one you want to practise, and an email address. Four answers, in the chat.

3

Confirm your email

Tap the link we send you. That is what switches on your 7 days of full access: chat, voice notes and spoken practice calls.

4

Start practising

Message your assistant whenever you like. Set your Smart Habits and the times they should land right there in the chat.

No new app to install, and no separate login. It's the WhatsApp you already use every day.

Create your free account

Everything your assistant does on WhatsApp

One number, one thread. No new app, no new password, no new habit to build.

Smart Habits

Twelve kinds of micro-lesson: vocab drops, a pronunciation clinic, quiz master, idiom of the week and more. You choose which ones, and when.

Free conversation

Message any time in the language you're learning. Send text or voice notes, and your assistant replies in the same form.

Practice calls

A real spoken conversation over WhatsApp with an AI that answers first and greets you by name.

51 Roleplay Practice situations

Order food, see a doctor, survive a job interview, sort out lost luggage. Each one gives you a goal to hit.

Listening mode

Voice notes only, no text at all. There's a Show text button for the bits you really can't catch.

Photo practice

Your assistant sends you a photo to describe, or you send one of your own and get it marked.

Instant answers

Ask what a word means, how it's said, or how a verb behaves. Conjugations come back as a card you can keep.

Lesson summaries

Your tutor's lesson summary arrives on WhatsApp, then a short evening review locks the new material in.

Streaks and milestones

Practise on consecutive days to build a streak, with a repair if you miss one, and milestones along the way.

Chat and voice

Practise the way you already message

Your assistant is a contact in your phone. Write on the bus, send a voice note while you cook, pick the thread back up hours later.

Text or voice, your choice

Send a message or a voice note. Your assistant replies in kind, or does both at once if you like hearing it as well as reading it.

Instant help, no context switch

Ask for a translation, an explanation, or how a verb conjugates. The answer lands in the thread, and verb tables arrive as a card.

One tap to lock it in

New material comes back as a short drill at increasing intervals, until it sticks for good.

Listening mode

Ask for listening practice and the text stops. Voice notes only, with a Show text button for when you're stuck.

Roast mode, if you want it

Turn it on and your assistant adds a sarcastic line about your worst mistake of the turn. Off by default, twice a day at most.

Practice calls

Actually speak, not just type.

Reading and typing only take you so far. Call the Voilà number on WhatsApp and have a genuine spoken conversation with an AI that plays a part, at a level that matches yours.

Dial in, or let it call you

Ring the Voilà number whenever you want to talk, or accept a practice call your assistant proposes.

Every call has a goal

You're not just chatting. Each roleplay gives you something to accomplish, and you find out afterwards whether you managed it.

Surprise complications

At higher levels the person on the other end throws in a curveball mid-call, the way real life does.

Rehearse the real thing

Mention a job interview on Thursday and your assistant will offer to rehearse it with you first.

51 roleplays across five categories

Practice calls, photo practice and streak cards are rolling out gradually and aren't switched on for every account yet. Calls also need a language our voice AI supports. Most major languages are covered, and where one isn't, your assistant sticks to voice notes instead.

Two ways to practise situations

Rehearse it, then walk in ready.

Roleplay Practice builds fluency in your own time. Scenario Prep gets you ready for the thing you're doing this afternoon. Different tools, and they work best together.

Roleplay Practice

Practice for its own sake

Call in whenever you feel like it and the AI plays a part: the waiter, the landlord, the interviewer. You improvise live, and afterwards you find out whether you pulled it off. Nothing real depends on it, which is the point.

  • 51 situations across five categories
  • A spoken call, live and unscripted
  • A Practice Summary minutes after you hang up

Scenario Prep

For the thing you're actually doing

Tell your assistant what's coming up, say you're heading to the pharmacy, and get back the phrases you'll need, what you're likely to hear in reply, the key words, and voice notes to replay on the way there.

  • Ask by message or voice note, any time
  • Phrases, likely replies and key words
  • Voice notes to listen to on the way

Prep gives you the words. Roleplay lets you rehearse them. Then you go and do it for real, and the words you looked up come back later as review.

After every call

A Practice Summary, minutes after you hang up

The call is only half of it. As soon as you hang up, your assistant writes up how it went and sends it to you on WhatsApp as a PDF, the same way a lesson summary arrives.

  • Whether you achieved what the roleplay asked of you
  • Pronunciation and grammar points to work on, with the moments they came from
  • Better ways to say what you were reaching for
  • Vocabulary from the call, queued up for review later in the week

Practice calls are recorded so this feedback can be written, and your assistant tells you so before the call starts.

Better together

It makes your tutoring worth more

One lesson a week is an hour. This is the other hundred and sixty-seven. Your practice and your lessons feed each other, so you arrive further along than you left.

A quick review before your lesson

Your live lesson with your tutor

Your summary lands on WhatsApp

An evening review locks it in

A week of practice on your tutor's focus

Your tutor gets briefed before next time

And round it goes. Every week builds on the one before.

With a Voilà tutor, at no cost

Your tutor sets the week's focus

They type "this week: past tense" and it becomes the first thing your practice reaches for, every day until they change it.

They can reach you mid-practice

A voice note, a written challenge, or just a well done, arriving in the thread with their face on it so you know it came from a person.

Your assistant never takes the credit

It practises the exact vocabulary and mistakes from your recorded lessons, and it says whose lesson they came from.

Your tutor walks in knowing

A short brief before every lesson: what you practised, what you kept getting wrong, where you still need reps. No time wasted catching up.

Rather keep it to yourself? Sharing your practice with your tutor is a switch in your settings, not a support ticket.

No tutor? Still yours.

  • Smart Habits, free conversation, voice notes and practice calls all work on their own. Just pick the language you want to practise.
  • Your assistant still tracks what you struggle with and brings it back for review until it sticks.
  • You only miss the lesson-linked parts: the pre-lesson review, lesson summaries and tutor voice notes.

Without a tutor on Voilà, the assistant runs on an AI Insights subscription: $19.99/mo a month, tax included, after a 7-day free trial. Book a lesson with a Voilà tutor and it becomes free instead.

And a few more things

The rest of what lives in the thread

Small things you'll end up using constantly, none of which need an app.

Practice on demand

Type activity for a menu: new words, fix my mistakes, role-play, culture, a quiz, an idiom, even a joke.

It remembers you

Tell it about your job, your exam date, why you're learning. It uses all of that, and you can read or delete any of it.

A card on every streak day

Each day your practice counts, an image like this one lands in the chat. Forward it to your Status if you feel like it.

Switch language mid-chat

Say you'd like to practise Italian and it switches. Each language keeps its own words, habits and progress.

Take your vocabulary with you

Ask for the words you've been learning as a PDF, printable flashcards or an Anki deck.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does Voilà on WhatsApp cost?

If your tutor teaches you on Voilà, it's free for as long as your lessons continue, and there is nothing to buy or enter. Otherwise it's included with Premium AI Insights, so there is no separate WhatsApp subscription: new subscribers get a 7-day free trial, then $19.99 per month, tax included, and you can cancel any time before the trial ends without being charged. A monthly fair-use allowance applies to AI practice — at least 60 ten-minute conversations a month on a paid subscription; in the rare case you reach it, practice pauses until the next month.

Are practice calls recorded?

Yes. Calls are recorded and transcribed so your assistant can write the Practice Summary you get afterwards, and you're told this before a call starts. If you'd rather not be recorded, stick to chat and voice notes. They work just as well.

How do I pause or stop?

Reply STOP on WhatsApp at any time, or switch the channel off in your Voilà settings. You can turn it back on from the website whenever you like, and you can disconnect your number entirely to free it up.

Which languages does it work in?

Chat and Smart Habits work in every language Voilà teaches. Practice calls need a language our voice AI supports, and most major languages are covered. If yours isn't supported yet, your assistant simply won't offer calls and will suggest voice notes instead.

What does my tutor see?

By default, your practice history for the language they teach you: what you worked on, your streak, and the things you keep getting wrong. That is what lets them set a focus for the week and walk into your lesson already up to speed. If you'd rather they didn't, turn sharing off in your settings and they'll see that you keep your practice private instead.

Does this replace my tutor?

No, it's built to do the opposite. Your assistant practises what your tutor taught, credits them by name, briefs them before your next lesson and nudges you to book it. Your tutor is the one teaching you. WhatsApp keeps you warm in between.

Can I use it right now?

Voilà on WhatsApp is rolling out gradually and isn't switched on for every account yet. Practice calls, photo practice and streak cards arrive account by account, and sending photos of your own needs a trial or paid plan. Create your free account and start Premium AI Insights, and you'll be able to connect your number as soon as it reaches you.
