WhatsApp for Tutors

WhatsApp practice is designed to make you more present between lessons, not to replace you. The AI quotes your teaching moments by name and keeps steering the student back to your lessons.

Launching September 2026. Students get WhatsApp practice as part of Premium AI Insights.

Students you already teach do not need a code. If your Voilà tutor subscription is active (or you are on a free trial) and you have ongoing lessons with them — a lesson in the last 30 days, an upcoming booking, a recurring schedule, or remaining package credits — they get AI Insights and WhatsApp included. That access ends if they leave you or lessons go stale.

Sharing a student invitation link on WhatsApp only creates the relationship. The invite card (QR / TUTOR-XXXXXX code) is for students who are not yet on Voilà or not yet linked to you — they start a trial, and the code is portable (they keep it even if they later stop lessons). Everyone else pays $19.99/mo after a 7-day trial.

What you see​

On My Students → a student's details page, the WhatsApp Practice panel shows what they have been practising between lessons — streaks, recent sessions, and struggle points.

What you can do​

This week's focus​

Set a focus area (for example “past tense this week”). The AI makes it the top priority in that student's practice.

Drops​

Leave a short voice note (up to about 90 seconds) or a written challenge. The AI hands it to the student mid-practice — “Your tutor left you something…” — and builds on it.

The drop must be left on the same tutor–student language pairing the student practises under on WhatsApp, or it will not reach them. Undelivered drops expire after two weeks.

Kudos​

One-tap encouragement that the AI relays warmly to the student.

Invite a student​

Use the WhatsApp / AI Insights invite on the student page for people who are not yet your students on Voilà. Linked students with active lessons are already covered. See Student Settings for what the subscription includes.

Emails​

Both emails are on by default. Use the unsubscribe link in the email to switch them off.

  • Pre-lesson brief — a few hours before a lesson, a short email summarises what the student practised since last time, what they struggled with, and any homework status.
  • Weekly practice digest (Monday mornings) — one email covering all your WhatsApp-active students, with links to each practice panel.

Rebooking​

When a student is on a roll, the AI can suggest booking the next lesson with you and share real open slots plus your booking link — positioning the momentum as something you built together.

What students can do​

Students chat, run Smart Habits, use explain, describe photos the AI sends, take practice calls, and build streaks. Full detail is in WhatsApp for Students.

The AI does not replace you. It practises what you taught, credits you by name, briefs you before lessons, and nudges students to book again.
