Tutor Profile & Marketplace

Your tutor profile is your public listing on the Voila marketplace. It controls how students discover you, what they see before booking, and how the AI Matchmaker evaluates compatibility.

Editing Your Profile​

Access your profile in two ways:

  • Profile section — shows a student's-eye preview of your marketplace listing.
  • Settings → Tutor Profile — same fields without the marketplace preview.

Profile Fields​

Basic Information​

  • Native language
  • Additional languages you speak — even languages you do not teach; students may prefer a tutor who shares their native language.
  • Languages you teach

Per-Language Profiles​

Create a separate profile for each language you teach. Each profile can have its own:

  • Introduction video — short clip introducing you and your teaching style
  • Tagline — one-line description shown in search results
  • About me — detailed bio visible on your full profile page
  • Pricing — per-session rate in your preferred currency
  • Trial price — discounted rate for first-time students
  • Class packages — multi-session bundles at a set price
  • Lesson types — the kinds of sessions you offer (conversation, exam prep, etc.)
  • In-person availability — whether you also teach face-to-face
  • Certificates — qualifications you hold for that language

Photo and Media​

Upload a profile photo and an introduction video. Uploaded media goes through automatic moderation to ensure it meets platform guidelines.

Availability​

Set your weekly availability directly from the profile section or from Scheduling. Students see available time slots when viewing your profile.

Marketplace Visibility​

Your profile appears on the marketplace when:

  • You have set listing as active.
  • You have filled in at least the required fields (name, photo, language, pricing).

Students can filter tutors by language, price range, rating, number of reviews, and more. Profiles with videos and complete information rank higher in search results.

Reviews and Ratings​

Students can leave a review (1-5 stars plus text) after completing a lesson with you. Each student can submit one review per tutor. Your average rating and review count appear on your marketplace card.

AI Matchmaker Profile​

The AI Matchmaker pairs students with tutors based on compatibility rather than filters alone. To be included:

  1. Go to your Profile setup for a language you teach.
  2. Complete the AI Matchmaker interview — a conversational AI chat that asks about your teaching interests, lesson style, correction approach, and focus areas.
  3. Once complete, your match profile is generated automatically.

You can enable or disable your AI Matchmaker profile at any time from Settings. You can also reset the interview and retake it if your teaching approach changes.
