Tutor Profile & Tutor Directory

Your tutor profile is your public listing in the Voilà Tutor Directory. It controls how students discover you and what they see before booking.

Editing Your Profile​

Access your profile in two ways:

  • Profile section — shows a student's-eye preview of your Tutor Directory listing.
  • Settings → Tutor Profile — same fields without the directory preview.

Profile Fields​

Photo and Media​

Upload a profile photo and an introduction video. Uploaded media goes through automatic moderation to ensure it meets platform guidelines.

Languages​

  • Native language
  • Additional spoken languages and proficiency levels — even languages you do not teach; students may prefer a tutor who shares their native language.
  • Languages you teach

Per-Language Profiles​

Create a separate profile for each language you teach. Each profile can have its own:

  • Profile photo and introduction video — A profile photo and a short video introducing you and your teaching style
  • Tagline — one-line description shown in search results
  • Profile bio — detailed bio visible on your full profile page
  • Class description — overview of the class content and structure
  • Pricing — per-session rate in your preferred currency
  • Trial price — discounted rate for first-time students
  • Class packages — multi-session bundles at a set price
  • Lesson types — the kinds of sessions you offer (conversation, exam prep, etc.)
  • In-person availability — whether you also teach face-to-face
  • Certificates — qualifications you hold for that language
  • Public profile links — copyable links to your public profiles

Availability​

Set your weekly availability directly from the profile section or from Scheduling. Students see available time slots when viewing your profile.

Tutor Directory Visibility​

Your profile appears in the Tutor Directory when:

  • You have set Marketplace listing as active in your settings.
  • You have filled in at least the required fields (name, photo, language, pricing).

Students can filter tutors by language, price range, rating, and more. Profiles with videos and complete information rank higher in search results.

Reviews and Ratings​

Students can leave a review (1-5 stars plus text) after completing a lesson with you. Each student can submit one review per tutor. Your average rating and review count appear on your directory card, unless you disable the Show reviews on public profile option.

AI Matchmaker Profile​

The AI Matchmaker pairs students with tutors based on compatibility rather than filters alone. To be included:

  1. Go to your Profile setup for a language you teach.
  2. Complete the AI Matchmaker interview — a conversational AI chat that asks about your teaching interests, lesson style, correction approach, and focus areas.
  3. Once complete, your match profile is generated automatically.

You can enable or disable your AI Matchmaker profile at any time from Settings. You can also reset the interview and retake it if your teaching approach changes.

Voilà 100 Pioneers​

The Voilà 100 is an exclusive group of founding tutors who help shape the platform. Pioneers are:

  • Personally vetted — hand-selected by the Voilà team
  • Founding tutors — among the first 100 tutors on the platform
  • Platform contributors — involved in product and pedagogy decisions
  • Voilà-recommended — tutors the team personally endorses

Pioneers display a special Voilà 100 badge on their public profile and directory card. Students can click the badge to learn more about the program.

Becoming a Pioneer is by invitation only — it is not possible to apply directly. If you believe you meet the criteria and have been teaching on Voilà since the early days, you are welcome to reach out to hello@voila.fun.
