Finding a Tutor

The Voilà Tutor Directory lets you browse, search, and compare tutors to find the right match for your language learning goals.

Browsing the Tutor Directory​

Go to Tutors in the sidebar to open the Tutor Directory. Each tutor card shows:

  • Name
  • Languages taught
  • Average price per session (displayed in your currency with automatic conversion)
  • Rating and number of reviews

Click a card to view the tutor's full profile.

Searching and Filtering​

Use filters to narrow your results:

Price rangeSet minimum and maximum per-session price.
Minimum ratingOnly show tutors with a rating at or above your threshold.
Has reviewsOnly show tutors with at least one student review.
Has videoOnly show tutors with an introduction video.
CountryShow tutors from a specific country.
City or addressShow tutors in a specific location for in-person lessons.
Text searchSearch by name, tagline, or bio keywords.

Filters combine — for example, you can search for English tutors under EUR 30/hour with a 4+ star rating.

Tutor Profiles​

A full tutor profile includes:

  • Tagline — one-line description shown in search results
  • Profile bio — detailed bio visible on your full profile page
  • Class description — overview of the class content and structure
  • Pricing — per-session rate in your preferred currency
  • Trial price — discounted rate for first-time students
  • Class packages — multi-session bundles at a set price
  • Lesson types — the kinds of sessions you offer (conversation, exam prep, etc.)
  • In-person availability — whether you also teach face-to-face
  • Certificates — qualifications you hold for that language

Bookmarking Tutors​

Click the bookmark icon on a tutor card or profile to save them for later. Access your bookmarked tutors from the Tutors page.

Voilà 100 Pioneers​

Some tutors display a Voilà 100 badge on their card or profile. These tutors are part of the Voilà Pioneer programme — a small, hand-selected group of founding tutors personally vetted by the Voilà team. Pioneers were amongst the first 100 tutors on the platform, contribute to product and pedagogy decisions, and are tutors Voilà personally recommends.

Click the badge on any tutor card or profile to learn more about a specific Pioneer.

Exploring vs Booking​

When you first message or book with a tutor, the relationship starts in an Exploring state:

  • You can message the tutor, book trial or single sessions, and view their profile.
  • Packages, recurring lessons, and advanced features become available when you or the tutor upgrades the relationship to Active.
