Student Settings

Access Settings from the header to manage your account, preferences, and integrations.

Account Settings​

Personal Info​

SettingDescription
Basic InfoName, email, and account details.
Voice SampleRecord a voice sample to improve transcription accuracy for your lessons. This is separate from the speaking voice the Learning Partner uses.
Display LanguageThe language used for menus, labels, and calendar day names. It also sets whether the week starts on Monday or Sunday, and whether dates are shown day-first or month-first. Languages that read right to left use a right-to-left layout.
CurrencyCurrency used for billing and payments on the platform.

Set your target language, native language, and pronunciation level

Notification Preferences​

Control which notifications you receive:

  • In-app notifications — appear in the notification centre on voila.fun
  • Email notifications — sent to your registered email for events like new messages, lesson confirmations, and AI summaries

Configure per-type preferences in Settings → Notifications.

Practice​

These controls are on your account page and in the Voilà app. They apply to WhatsApp, Telegram, and the Voilà app.

Practice channelWhich place you practise in: WhatsApp, Telegram, or the Voilà app. One at a time. To move it, send Voilà a message in the chat you want and tap Switch.
How I soundA named speaking voice, with a sample you can play before you choose. Voice notes use your tutor's custom voice when they have one, then the voice you picked, then the gender default. Practice calls use the voice you picked, then the gender default — not your tutor's clone.
Speaking speedSlower, Normal, or Faster.
Explain things inThe language used for explanations and menus. Practice itself stays in the language you are learning.
CorrectionsFor the language you are practising now: Every mistake, When it matters, or Only when I ask.

Integrations​

IntegrationHow to connect
Google CalendarSettings → Integrations → Connect Google Calendar. Lessons sync to your calendar.
Microsoft OutlookSettings → Integrations → Connect Outlook Calendar. Lessons sync to your calendar.
Voilà appAndroid on Google Play. iOS is coming in November 2026. See Voilà App for Students.

Students do not see the browser-extension cards. Those are for tutors.

Calendar integration adds your lessons to your external calendar and shows you synced availability.

Subscription​

Students can subscribe to Premium AI Insights — an add-on that unlocks an AI chat powered by Gemini, giving you access to your full lesson history, personalised vocabulary analysis, grammar patterns, 24/7 practice prompts based on your real lessons, and chat practice on Telegram, WhatsApp, or the Voilà app.

  • Included with your tutor: if you have an active tutor on Voilà (they are paying or on a tutor trial) and a lesson within seven days either side of today, AI Insights is included for the language of that lesson. It pauses if you leave that tutor, or if a week passes with no lesson behind you and none booked — booking your next lesson turns it straight back on, and nothing is lost in between.
  • Referral code: redeem any AI Insights code (tutor invite, staff, or promo) from Settings → Subscription or the chat checkout page. That grant is portable and independent of the tutor.
  • Free trial: 7 days free when you first activate it.
  • After the trial: $19.99 USD/month, plus applicable tax (VAT or sales tax is added at checkout where required).
  • Manage or cancel at any time from Settings → Subscription. The Play Store build of the app does not sell the subscription; use the website, or the Get AI Insights card on your dashboard.
