Telegram for Tutors

Telegram practice is designed to make you more present between lessons, not to replace you. The AI quotes your teaching moments by name and keeps steering the student back to your lessons.

Inviting a student​

This is the part worth learning properly, because it is one tap for the student.

Send a student your personal invite link and they are connected the moment they tap it — no code to type, no form to fill in, no sign-in. They land in the chat greeted by your name and photo, already paired to you.

Three ways to send one, from My Students:

  • One student — open the row menu and choose Invite to Voilà on Telegram. You get a QR code and a copyable link, which is what you want if you already message that student somewhere else.
  • Several at once — select students and use Invite to practise. Each one gets their own email with their own link and QR code.
  • When you invite someone new — the invitation email you already send includes the practice link, unless you untick the box.

The App column on My Students shows who is connected, so you can see at a glance who is still to invite.

A personal invite link belongs to one student

Each link signs whoever taps it into that student's account. Do not post one in a class group or a channel — the first person to tap it lands in someone else's practice history.

If you want a link you can share openly, use the referral code on your settings page instead. That one is designed to be broadcast, and it is meant for people who are not yet your students.

What your students get, and what it costs them​

Students you already teach do not need a code and do not pay. If your Voilà subscription is active (or you are on a free trial) and you have a lesson with them within seven days either side of today, AI practice is included for them.

That access follows the teaching. If a week passes with no lesson behind them and none booked, their practice pauses — and you get an email telling you so, at the same time the student is told. Nothing is deleted, and booking the next lesson turns it back on at no cost to either of you.

In practice this makes the pause useful rather than awkward: it is a prompt to get the next lesson in the calendar, and the student has already been told that booking is the fix.

What you see​

On My Students → a student's details page, the practice panel shows what they have been working on between lessons — streaks, recent sessions, and struggle points.

What you can do​

This week's focus​

Set a focus area (for example "past tense this week"). The AI makes it the top priority in that student's practice.

Drops​

Leave a short voice note (up to about 90 seconds) or a written challenge. The AI hands it to the student mid-practice — "Your tutor left you something…" — and builds on it.

The drop must be left on the same tutor–student language pairing the student practises under, or it will not reach them. Undelivered drops expire after two weeks.

Kudos​

One-tap encouragement that the AI relays warmly to the student.

Emails​

Both emails are on by default. Use the unsubscribe link in the email to switch them off.

  • Pre-lesson brief — a few hours before a lesson, a short email summarising what the student practised since last time, what they struggled with, and any homework status.
  • Weekly practice digest (Monday mornings) — one email covering all your practising students, with links to each practice panel.

Rebooking​

When a student is on a roll, the AI can suggest booking the next lesson with you and share real open slots plus your booking link — positioning the momentum as something you built together.

Good to know​

  • One app at a time. A student practises on Telegram or WhatsApp, not both. Connecting one disconnects the other, and nothing is lost in the switch.
  • No practice calls on Telegram. Spoken call practice is WhatsApp-only; Telegram students use voice notes instead.
  • Students stop by blocking the bot, not by replying STOP.

What students can do​

Students chat, run Smart Habits, use explain, describe photos, and build streaks. Full detail is in Telegram for Students.

The AI does not replace you. It practises what you taught, credits you by name, briefs you before lessons, and nudges students to book again.
