Telegram for Students

Voilà on Telegram is a between-lesson practice partner in the app you already use. You chat, do short scheduled micro-lessons, and get an account screen that opens right inside Telegram. The AI knows what you are working on with your real tutor and keeps pointing you back to them.

The bot is @voila_app_bot.

What it costs​

Most students pay nothing, because their tutor is teaching them.

  • You have lessons with a Voilà tutor — if your tutor has an active Voilà subscription (or is on their free trial) and you have a lesson within seven days either side of today — one just gone, or one coming up — AI practice is included. There is nothing to buy and no code to enter.
  • Referral code — anyone can redeem an AI Insights referral code from a tutor invite, staff, or a promo. That grant is portable: it keeps working even if you stop lessons with that tutor.
  • Everyone else — $19.99/month for Premium AI Insights after a 7-day free trial. Manage or cancel from Settings → Subscription.

Included practice has a smaller monthly fair-use allowance than a paid subscription. If you reach it, the AI tells you and offers you the subscription — your practice history is not affected.

If your practice pauses​

Included practice is tied to lessons you are currently taking. If a week goes by with no lesson behind you and none booked, practice pauses and the AI tells you so.

Nothing is cancelled and nothing is lost — your streak, summaries and notepad are all still there. Booking your next lesson turns it straight back on, at no cost. Your tutor is told at the same time, so you may hear from them first.

Getting started​

The quickest way in is a link from your tutor. Tap it and you are done — no form, no code, no sign-in. You will be greeted by your tutor's name and photo, and your account is already connected.

If you would rather set it up yourself:

  1. Create a free Voilà account (or sign in).
  2. Open voila.fun/telegram-tutor.
  3. Tap the button to open Telegram and press Start.
  4. Confirm you are happy to receive practice messages.
  5. Pick your language and tutor (if you have more than one), then choose Smart Habits and times that suit you.
One app at a time

Voilà practice runs on either Telegram or WhatsApp, not both at once. Connecting Telegram disconnects WhatsApp. Nothing is lost when you switch — your streak, your history and your settings all come with you.

What you can do​

Chat anytime​

Send text or voice notes in the language you study. The AI replies in text, voice, or both, depending on your preference. Practice is pitched at your level and weaves in vocabulary, grammar, and recurring mistakes from your real lessons.

Smart Habits​

Short scheduled micro-lessons (about 2–10 minutes) at times you pick — for example Daily Vocab Drops, Roleplay Check-In, Pronunciation Clinic, Idiom of the Week, or Quiz Master. Each one starts with a hook message; tap the button to begin.

Pronunciation Clinic asks you to repeat a tricky sentence as a voice note and helps you with the sounds that were weak. You will not see a score or a percentage.

Explain​

If a reply goes over your head, say explain (or reply to that message). The AI takes the sentence apart — tense, agreement, word order, the small word that changes the meaning. It works on your messages too, so it doubles as a correction. Say explain again to go deeper. Explain in text forces a written explanation just that once.

Describe a photo​

Say new photo and you get a picture of an everyday scene to describe. The AI looks at the same photo, says how close you got, and hands you a word or two you missed. You can ask for a kind of scene — kitchen, cocina, مطبخ all work — in whatever language you feel like typing.

Your account, inside Telegram​

Tap the menu button to open your Voilà account without leaving Telegram. Habits, times, privacy, what the AI knows about you, and your usage all live there — no emailed links, no password to remember.

After a real lesson​

The AI can send your lesson summary on Telegram, then follow up the same evening with a short lock-in review so new material does not fade.

Streaks​

Practising on consecutive days builds a daily streak (a chat or a micro-lesson both count). Miss a day? Complete a practice lesson within 48 hours (once per month) and the streak can survive. Milestone celebrations land at 10, 25, 50, and 100 sessions. A finished practice day produces a shareable streak card you can post to your Stories.

Kid mode​

Say or type kid mode and the AI switches to a child-friendly assistant. Say kid mode off to switch back — or it turns itself off after two quiet hours.

Commands​

Tap the menu button next to the message box for the full list — including /translate, /conjugate, /explain, /pronunciate, /listening and /account. Send one without anything after it and the AI will ask you what you want.

What is not on Telegram​

Practice calls. Spoken phone-call practice is only available on WhatsApp. On Telegram, voice notes cover most of the same ground — record yourself, get feedback on what you said — but there is no live call.

Paying inside the app. Subscriptions are managed from your account screen or the website, not from the chat.

Pause or stop​

Block the bot in Telegram at any time, or switch the channel off from your Voilà settings. You can re-enable it whenever you like.

Unlike WhatsApp, there is no STOP keyword on Telegram — blocking the bot is how you unsubscribe, and we pick that up straight away.
