Notifications
Voila sends notifications to keep you informed about lessons, messages, payments, and platform activity. Both tutors and students receive notifications relevant to their role.
Notification Center
Access the notification center from the bell icon in the header. It shows all recent notifications with:
- Title and body — what happened
- Timestamp — when it occurred
- Read/unread status — unread notifications are highlighted
- Link — click to navigate to the relevant page (e.g. a lesson, message, or booking)
Managing Notifications
- Click a notification to mark it as read and navigate to the related item.
- Use Mark all as read to clear the unread count.
- Scroll through your notification history to review past items.
Notification Types
| Type | Examples |
|---|---|
| Lesson reminders | Upcoming lesson in 30 minutes, lesson starting now. |
| Booking updates | New booking request (tutor), booking confirmed/declined (student), booking expired. |
| Payment events | Payment captured, refund issued, recurring payment processed or failed. |
| Messages | New message from a student or tutor. |
| AI summaries | Lesson summary generated and ready to view. |
| System | Account updates, feature announcements, platform maintenance. |
Delivery Methods
Notifications can be delivered through two channels:
| Channel | Description |
|---|---|
| In-app | Displayed in the notification center on voila.fun. Always active. |
| Sent to your registered email address. Configurable per notification type. |
Configuring Preferences
Go to Settings → Notifications to control which notifications you receive and how:
- Toggle email delivery on or off for each notification type.
- In-app notifications are always delivered and cannot be disabled.
Importance Levels
Notifications have different importance levels that affect how they are displayed:
| Level | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Critical | Always shown prominently. Includes lesson reminders and payment failures. |
| Informational | Standard display. Includes booking confirmations and message alerts. |
| Background | Lower priority. Includes system announcements and feature updates. |
